Z Energy (Z) and Channel Infrastructure (NZX: CHI) today announce a significant increase to jet fuel storage at Marsden Point, further boosting resilience in New Zealand’s jet fuel supply chain to Auckland.

Once commissioned, the additional jet fuel storage more than doubles Z’s current private storage at Marsden Point. This will provide enough fuel for around 10,000 flights between Auckland and Wellington.

Commenting, Z’s General Manager Supply, Julian Hughes, says:

“This partnership demonstrates Z’s commitment to reinforcing Auckland’s jet fuel supply chain, with Marsden Point as the direct supply route to Auckland International Airport. This additional jet storage will enable Z to enhance overall security of supply for its customers, alongside our ongoing work with industry to deliver additional jet fuel resilience at the Wiri terminal. It is also an important step in investing for future storage requirements under the Minimum Stockholding Regime.”

Commenting, Channel Infrastructure CEO Rob Buchanan says:

“Channel is the gateway for fuel that keeps Auckland International Airport moving. As New Zealand’s largest fuels import terminal with a commitment to being a world-class energy infrastructure company, we are delighted to have the opportunity to support a key customer in further enhancing their supply chain.”

The work to bring the additional jet fuel storage online is scheduled to be completed by Q1 2027.
